The Technical Standards provided on this page are to be utilised when desiging school assets during design, documentation, construction and maintenance of school facilities. These standards are the minimum requirements for the design of school facilities.

Construction components of the Technical Standards are complemented by NATSPEC (the National Building Specification) and provide supplementary clauses specific for school projects. 

00 Planning and Design
Design Reference and Design Checklists provides guidance on key topics for school design within a Whole of Life framework. Topics include landscape, open space, building regulations, hygiene, food preparation, bushfire protection, power system, circulation, mechanical, hydraulic, acoustics, hazardous materials, bird nuisance, electrical services, field data capture, civil works.
01 General
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “General” worksections providing information on Tendering, Preliminaries, General Requirements and Common Requirements, and Sundry Installations.
02 Site, urban and open spaces
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Site, Urban & Open spaces” worksections providing information on Preparation and Groundwork, Landscape Structures and Cultivation and Pavements. Preparation and Groundwork, Landscape Structures and Cultivation and Pavements.
03 Structure
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Structure” worksections providing information on All complexities and sizes of buildings using concrete, masonry, steel, timber consturction and structural glazing.
04 Enclosure
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Enclosure” worksections providing information on roofing, cladding and opening components. Doors and Windows, and Glass.
05 Interior
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Interior” worksections providing information on non structural interior building components including Linings, Partitions, Ceilings, Fixtures, Furniture and Furnishings and Signs and Features.
06 Finish
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Finishes” worksections providing information on Trowelled and Sprayed Coatings, Tiling, Floor Surfacing and Painting.
07 Mechanical
This section provides information that would normally be in the NATSPEC “Mechanical” worksections providing information on Mechanical Systems such as water and air plant, components, control and associated components.
08 Hydraulic
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Hydraulic” services worksections including Hydraulic Components and Hydraulic Systems.
09 Electrical
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Electrical” services worksections including Power Generation - Photovoltaic and Lighting.
20 Conveying
This section provides EFSG Technical Standards requirements along with NATSPEC “Conveying” worksections providing information on all conveying equipment including lift design and install.
