Asset Officers Lighten Principal Workload

19 August, 2022

An additional 50 Asset Service Officers will be recruited to help keep school grounds safe and well maintained – tasks which currently take up a great deal of principals’ time.

‘I want our principals to be able to focus on their core roles,’ said Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell.

‘This investment will support efforts to remove administrative tasks from their workload.’

The creation of additional Asset Service Officer roles is an initiative outlined in the Quality Time Program Mid-year update.

The Quality Time program of work aims to streamline administration and improve support resources for teachers, principals and school based non-teaching staff so that they can focus on teaching, leading and supporting learning.

See the Minister’s media release of 19 August for more information about school maintenance projects across NSW. For more information about the Quality Time program, read the Mid-year update.
