Professional experience agreement
Professional Experience Agreements with Initial Teacher Education Providers (universities and colleges) are the way the Department organises their professional experience placement arrangements to ensure they are smoothly managed.
In response to the Department’s request, schools have identified which Initial Teacher Education Providers (ITEPs) they would like to partner within a Professional Experience Agreement for 2022 - 2024. The Agreements indicate which schools a provider can confidently approach to seek placements for pre-service teachers, subject to the principal’s agreement.
The agreements:
- increase certainty around the number and timing of placements
- provide a more coordinated and consistent approach to placing initial teacher education students
- foster more opportunities to develop and strengthen relationships between initial teacher education providers and schools.
The Agreements are not exclusive and do not preclude ITEPs from approaching schools not on their list to seek placements. Principals make the final decision about the number and nature of professional experience placements in their schools.
Professional Experience Hub Schools are part of these Agreements.
