Applications for the Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science are closing soon

Nominate an exceptional teacher who has made a significant contribution in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics education.

The Prime Minister’s Prizes for Science are one of Australia’s most prestigious awards, recognising outstanding achievements in scientific research, innovation, and excellence in science teaching.

There are 2 prizes dedicated to excellence in science teaching, one for primary schools and one for secondary schools, with each recipient receiving $250,000 in prize money.

To be eligible for a science teaching prize, nominees must:

  • Be Australian citizens or permanent residents.

  • Have accomplished their nominated teaching achievements in Australia.

  • Not nominate themselves.

  • Be employed as a full-time or part-time teacher in a primary or secondary school listed on the Australian Schools List.

  • Actively teach science, technology, engineering, or mathematics at the time of nomination (teachers on parental leave who plan to return to teaching are also eligible).
