For parents

The department supports families through establishing Out of School Hours Care (OOSH) in school communities. The department's Shared Use of Schools team use information from parents (surveys), principals, and OOSH providers, to design OOSH solutions that suit the unique requirements of each school community.

Families can search for available OOSH services in the community through the Starting Blocks website: https://www.startingblocks.gov.au/find-child-care.

OOSH enriches social and learning experiences for primary school-age children. The majority of services operate before school from 7am, and after school until 6pm. Some OOSH services operate from as early as 6am through to 6:30pm, to meet their community needs.

If you have any questions about OOSH, you are welcome to email the Shared Use of Schools team at SharedUseofSchools@det.nsw.edu.au.
