For parents

The NSW Government is providing $120 million to provide improved access to flexible and affordable before and after school care for the families of all children attending NSW primary schools who need care.

The BASC Program is delivering before and after school care solutions that meet family needs. Using information provided by parents through surveys and consultation we are creating solutions that suit the unique requirements of your school community. More places are opening up every day across NSW and parents are encouraged to look into before and after school care initiatives through the school principal and the Department.

Before and after school care enriches social and learning experiences for primary school-age children:

  • the majority of services operate before school from 7am, and after school until 6pm, however some operate from as early as 6am through to 6:30pm to meet their community needs
  • they are delivered onsite in schools or offsite locations nearby
  • provide a safe and caring environment for children with organised and purposeful activities and programs
