Beyond the Line

Have you thought about teaching in a NSW public school beyond the metropolitan area? Join us Beyond the Line for a taste of country life.

In week 10 of Term 2, 50 pre-service teachers from universities across NSW and ACT joined the Teach NSW team on a five-day expenses-paid study tour in rural and regional NSW.

‘While on the Beyond the Line trip I forged genuine connections with fellow aspiring teachers and developed a profound passion for teaching in rural and remote communities’. - Evelyn, participant on the Beyond the Line study tour in September 2023.

The Beyond the Line Program will be expanding in 2024 across four study tours that will cater for up to 200 initial teacher education students to visit regional, rural and remote NSW.

Two and a half weeks after the September study tour returned to Sydney, one of the participants, Jasmine, took the leap and moved to Quirindi. ‘I will forever be grateful for this opportunity’. Jasmine has now taken up a temporary teaching position at Quirindi High School for the remainder of term 4 as she finalises her Master of Teaching degree.

If you, or someone you know is a second or third-year Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching student who is thinking about teaching in a regional, rural or remote NSW public school, why not join us Beyond the Line and find out if it is for you?

Applications for March and June study tours are now open. Applications for study tours 3 and 4 will open later in 2024. Pre-service teachers are encouraged to subscribe to be notified when applications re-open.
