Who we are

School Infrastructure NSW is a part of the NSW Department of Education, the largest provider of public education in Australia with more than 800,000 students in primary and secondary schools. At School Infrastructure NSW we build new schools and undertake major upgrades to existing schools.

We also maintain over 2,200 schools across NSW to ensure every child in NSW has access to high-quality education facilities at their local public school.

Reasons to work at School Infrastructure NSW

Program support

As a trainee, cadet or graduate at School Infrastructure NSW, you will be supported on your career journey by the Educational Development Program team from your first day. This means that you will know who to call or email with any issues or support needs through your two-year journey.

Meaningful work that makes a difference

It is important to feel that what you do makes a difference to someone’s life. At School Infrastructure NSW, you know that what you do is contributing to children’s lives in NSW. Not only do we build schools and maintain them, but we have responsibility for other projects and areas, such as the Before and After School Care program, Share Our Space school holiday program, and community use of school grounds and facilities on weekends and after hours. Your work with School Infrastructure will be contributing to the community.

Flexible work arrangements

At School Infrastructure NSW we are all about work-life balance. We know that, if you’re a trainee or cadet, it’s important to work around your study commitments. That’s why workplace flexibility is at the top of our list. This includes flexible working arrangements and flexible start and finish times. As an employee you are entitled to paid annual leave, sick leave, family leave, and community service leave.

Opportunities to progress in different roles

School Infrastructure NSW is a large organisation with many directorates and project teams. Through the Traineeship, Cadetship and Graduate programs, there are opportunities to get hands-on experience in different roles and areas of the organisation, including project delivery, asset activations or planning areas.

Regional and metro locations

All work placements are close to home or in locations that you can get to easily. With major infrastructure projects across the state, School Infrastructure NSW has a range of work locations

Educational Development Program pathways

School infrastructure also created its own pathway program that continues to support young people in their career development and their life-long education.
