Wellbeing is a person's ability to feel good and function well. It is about developing the skills, relationships and supports that help us cope with challenges, achieve our goals and participate positively in our communities.

Wellbeing is for all students. Schools support wellbeing not only when students are experiencing difficulties, but also by helping every student learn, grow and reach their potential.

Wellbeing helps students learn, build positive relationships and take part in school life.

When students feel safe, supported and connected, they are more likely to engage in learning, develop resilience and achieve their potential.

Supporting wellbeing helps students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to connect, succeed and thrive at school and beyond.

Supporting student wellbeing is a key priority in NSW public schools.

Schools take a whole-school approach to wellbeing that supports students' learning, development and engagement. They can also provide targeted and individualised support for students who need extra help.

The department provides a range of initiatives to support wellbeing in schools, including programs, partnerships and a specialist workforce.
