How can I prepare for difficult conversations?

All teachers know the importance of collaborative partnerships with families.

When it comes to talking with families about a challenging issue, it can be hard to know where to start. You may feel uncomfortable about sharing your concerns.

Remember, these conversations are a two-way street, and parents and families can find these conversations as equally difficult. Parents might feel blamed or expected to fix the issue, they may have had past difficult encounters with school leading to distrust or some families may have different cultural expectations.

Teachers can use a step-by-step process to help plan and prepare themselves.
