This is a great opportunity to further your commitment to supporting NSWs young people and provide career pathways into infrastructure.

Industry partners can register their interest to host one or more trainees by completing an application form.

Each year approximately 87,000 students leave high school taking the next step into a variety of pathways including university, TAFE, employment and looking for work. This year, these school leavers are starting this journey at a time of unprecedented uncertainty, which is why the NSW Government has designed a two-year traineeship in the infrastructure sector to provide paid training opportunities for some of NSW’s 2020 school leavers.

The traineeships are office based, with trainees spending:

  • 8 months with a government agency
  • 8 months with a contractor
  • 8 months with a consultant organisation.

This will provide them with valuable exposure to the broader industry, understanding the important role each party plays in the successful delivery of public infrastructure.

Trainees will study 1-2 days per week to complete a Cert III or Cert IV in courses such as project management and procurement. The program will be managed by Group Training Organisations who will recruit, manage and support trainees to complete their qualification. The courses will be funded by Training Services NSW and each government agency will pay the trainee’s salary plus any service fees.

Trainees will come from regional and metro areas.

The program will be managed by a Group Training Organisation (GTO) which will recruit, manage and support trainees to complete their qualification.
