Disability and Inclusion Program guidelines 2021

Eligible community preschools can access funding and support to enable children with disability and additional needs to participate in a quality early childhood education.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Families with children under 7 with a disability or developmental delay can apply to receive support from the NDIS Early Childhood Early Intervention approach.

Reasonable adjustments

Early childhood education and care services have a responsibility to continue to provide reasonable adjustments to support children with disability to participate in early learning and education.

National guidelines

The National Guidelines comprise of 4 quality areas and 8 key best practices to influence the delivery of high-quality early intervention support for children with disability and their families.

The guidelines were created by Reimagine Australia (previously known as Early Childhood Intervention Australia) who provide support, resources, training and development for educators to enable them to work effectively with families of children who have additional needs.

The Disability Gateway is a new Australian Government website that leads you to trusted information on disability services – it can also help find resources local to you.

The Disability Gateway includes a website, a dedicated phone number (1800 643 787) and social media channels, to assist people with disability, their families and carers, to find and access trusted information and services.
