The framework represents the various tiers of school learning environment design.

The physical infrastructure of each tier supports the school vision and enables educational principles to provide learning and teaching action possibilities.

The design response at the community, school and neighbourhood tiers are informed by evidence, research and experiences.

The configuration of hubs, learning spaces and learning settings are informed by the school:

• A learning space is an area for a group of learners.

• A general learning hub has four general learning spaces and a shared learning commons.

• A neighbourhood is a group of learning hubs.

Schools are supported by SINSW to explore how settings within hubs can be flexibly configured to support teaching.

Use of the hubs is informed by the learning modes and action possibilities of the learning environment.
