Have there been changes to the EFSG standards and requirements in building school facilities?

Design guide and specification guide content from the legacy website has been simplified and merged, helping our industry partners and other website users to locate targeted information to answer their questions about designing, building and maintaining schools. The sites also feature a range of new content related to School Infrastructure NSW’s standardised design approach, supporting our industry partners to implement standard hub layouts in new and upgraded schools

Where can I find Technical Standards information on the EFSG website?

EFSG users told us that the existing website presented an information overload and sometimes it was hard to find the information they needed for their own tasks. We have created two separate websites to better meet the needs of our users and to provide an easier way for users to navigate the information:

The EFSG website contains education planning information, design frameworks, principles and information on different school sizes and types.
The EFSG - Technical Standards website contains detailed resources for the construction profession, who support the delivery and maintenance of school facilities.

Why does SINSW have their own EFSG building standards? Is this a duplication of effort when many building codes and guidelines already exist?

Our EFSG Standards are based on our extensive experience in operating and maintaining schools in NSW. Australian building codes go some way in providing technical requirements for buildings, but they do not explain specific details relating to school operations. In some cases, our EFSG Standards set a benchmark about the relevant building code, to reflect the actual use of facilities by schools.

Where do I find information on how schools are designed?

The Design Frameworks contains information on the process and policies on designing schools. Please see the EFSG training video on how to navigate the new website.

How do I supply goods and services to the government?

All suppliers to government including the Department of Education should refer to info.buy.nsw. Info.buy.nsw is a procurement platform developed by NSW Department of Customer Service and NSW Treasury. It is your gateway to NSW Government procurement resources and services.

What do I do if I need more information, like questions addressed or want to make comment on school Infrastructure projects?
