The Welcome Experience is a new service supporting essential workers and their families who are thinking of moving or have made the move to a rural location. The service connects you and your family with local people and local resources to help you settle in and feel at home in your new community faster.

Placement details

Terms 1 - 4, 2025 (Applicants can request a shorter duration in their application).

Role description: The placement will be tailored depending on the skillset of the applicant. It could be having their own class, implementing a small group program, or opportunities to explore whole school programs such as assisting in educating students in our outdoor Immersion Centre.

Additional commitments: Willingness to work with friendly enthusiastic staff and students utilising the applicant’s talents.

Desired candidate expertise:

  • Approval to teach K-6
  • An interest in working in a safe, supportive rural school with the capacity to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering quality, teaching, and learning programs with an emphasis on student engagement.

Accommodation details

Accommodation has not been an issue with any placement to date with several options available to the successful applicant. The Gol Gol School has a few parents who work in Real Estate. Accommodation ranges from houses to units, boarding, cabins at Holiday Parks, Teacher Housing. Google Mildura Real Estate Agents for a comprehensive list of Real Estate Agents.

Individual or family accommodation can be organised. Options include one-to-four-bedroom houses, apartments, flats, shared accommodation. I am confident that we could help find suitable accommodation and would be willing to assist in securing appropriate accommodation options. Rental is very reasonable in terms of cost.

Please note: Teacher Housing availability can depend upon a variety of factors, including vacancy status and potential priority offers to other staff with full time rural appointments. Teacher Housing Authority (THA) may not be able to confirm the allocation of properties until all applications have been received and processed. Applicants are encouraged to discuss property availability directly with THA. Participants of the Rural Experience Program are not eligible for the Housing Rental Subsidy but may rent a property (at market value) through the THA if available.

Gol Gol Public School is located 6 Kilometres from Mildura (Victoria) adjacent to the Murray River in Western NSW. The school has 190 students.

Mildura has extensive facilities including an airport, fine dining, great shopping, restaurants, hospitals, fitness centres, Libraries, Arts Centre, an established riverfront and recreational activities.

Gol Gol Public School has experienced staff, excellent facilities, and caring, motivated students. Gol Gol is committed to the Rural Experience Program. All successful applicants to date have loved their experience. The Gol Gol School and Outdoor Immersion Centre is a vibrant and exciting place to work. Gol Gol Public School has a lovely vibe. Students engage in Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden classes, the Environmental and Cultural Immersion Centre, School Community Band and more. We have well-mannered, hard-working students and staff. We have forged strong relationships with the school community and host a magnificent Country Fair on the School Grounds in May.
