  • Permanent employees who hold a substantive position as a Teacher, Head Teacher, Assistant Principal or Deputy Principal and meet the eligibility requirements in the Rural Experience Guidelines may apply for this placement at their substantive level.
  • Non-permanent employees (those on a temporary engagement / contract and casual employees) who meet the eligibility requirements in the Rural Experience Guidelines may apply for this placement at Teacher level.

The Welcome Experience is a new service supporting essential workers and their families who are thinking of moving or have made the move to a rural location. The service connects you and your family with local people and local resources to help you settle in and feel at home in your new community faster.

Placement details

Terms 1 - 4, 2025 (Applicants can request a shorter duration in their application).

Role description: Are you looking for a dynamic and progressive school that values collaboration and innovation?

We are seeking passionate staff who are focused on student improvement and thrive working in a collaborative teaching environment.

The placement will be tailored depending on your experience, interests, and expertise. It could be having your own class (or for executive level supporting classroom teachers), implementing intervention programs, opportunities to lead whole school programs relating to our school priority areas or Executive capacity building under the leadership of the Executive Principal.

Additional commitments: Significant opportunities for professional growth will be provided by the school internally and externally. Participation in extra-curricular activities based on interest will be supported.

Desired candidate expertise for teachers:

  • Approval to teach K-6 or KLA areas of 7-12
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a team and build positive relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and delivering high-quality, differentiated teaching and learning programs with an emphasis on student engagement.
  • Ability to implement Aboriginal perspectives to enhance quality outcomes for Aboriginal students.

  • Capacity to implement Aboriginal perspectives to enhance quality outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.
  • Capacity to lead, manage and implement whole school policies, procedures and initiatives as part of a school executive team.

Accommodation details

Teacher housing may be available, with the majority of staff living in nearby Goondiwindi. There are many private rental options ranging from 1-bedroom units to large family homes on acreage. Many short-term rentals come partly or fully furnished.

Please note: Teacher Housing availability can depend upon a variety of factors, including vacancy status and potential priority offers to other staff with full time rural appointments. Teacher Housing Authority (THA) may not be able to confirm the allocation of properties until all applications have been received and processed. Applicants are encouraged to discuss property availability directly with THA. Participants of the Rural Experience Program are not eligible for the Housing Rental Subsidy but may rent a property (at market value) through the THA if available.

A warm tropical climate is enjoyed year round and Goondiwindi offers the full services of major centres, including pool, cinema and many local attractions.
