- Check JobFeed for temporary relief roles.
- Reach out to the school via email or phone, even if you have connected via ClassCover.
Teachers on ClassCover
Here are a few steps to showcase your skills and create connections with schools using ClassCover, the Department of Education's preferred casual teacher booking solution:
1. Enhance your ClassCover profile
- Include your experience, key learning areas and any additional willing to teach subjects such as special education.
- Include your Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Approval to Teach (ATT).
- Personalise your profile with a photo so schools can easily recognise you.
- Use the ClassCover checklist as a guide: How good looking is your ClassCover profile.
- Verify your Approval to Teach and mandatory training with the NSW Department of Education via ClassCover.
2. ClassCover etiquette tips and tricks to create connections with schools
- Ensure your calendar is up to date with your availability.
- Accept schools' invitation to join their list as soon as possible.
- Send requests to join a school's list.
- Turn on alerts for ClassCover jobs and respond promptly.
- Turn off your profile when you are on leave or have a temporary contract.
3. Consider broadening your experience and reach by working with new schools
- Add willingness to teach in areas outside of your key learning areas, such as special education, in your ClassCover profile.
- Consider travel time and make your selection of schools as wide as possible when asking to join the school’s list.
4. Professional development
- Locate mandatory training and professional development and relevant resources on MyPL.
- Complete necessary role-specific mandatory training for casual teachers (staff only). For mandatory training inquiries, email Learning@det.nsw.edu.au.
- Check out the MyPL useful support documents.
- Attending or watching casual teacher information sessions can count as elective professional development to help maintain your accreditation.
