Teacher Relief Opportunities for Winter

Schools across NSW are looking for additional casual teachers during the winter season.

Connecting with schools

You have a few options to connect with schools in your area:

  • If you are not already registered, you can connect with schools on ClassCover and receive job notifications via ClassCover jobs.
  • Check JobFeed for temporary relief roles.
  • Reach out to the school via email or phone, even if you have connected via ClassCover.

Teachers on ClassCover

Here are a few steps to showcase your skills and create connections with schools using ClassCover, the Department of Education's preferred casual teacher booking solution:

1. Enhance your ClassCover profile

  • Include your experience, key learning areas and any additional willing to teach subjects such as special education.
  • Include your Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Approval to Teach (ATT).
  • Personalise your profile with a photo so schools can easily recognise you.
  • Use the ClassCover checklist as a guide: How good looking is your ClassCover profile.
  • Verify your Approval to Teach and mandatory training with the NSW Department of Education via ClassCover.

2. ClassCover etiquette tips and tricks to create connections with schools

  • Ensure your calendar is up to date with your availability.
  • Accept schools' invitation to join their list as soon as possible.
  • Send requests to join a school's list.
  • Turn on alerts for ClassCover jobs and respond promptly.
  • Turn off your profile when you are on leave or have a temporary contract.

3. Consider broadening your experience and reach by working with new schools

  • Add willingness to teach in areas outside of your key learning areas, such as special education, in your ClassCover profile.
  • Consider travel time and make your selection of schools as wide as possible when asking to join the school’s list.

4. Professional development

1. Go to the ClassCover login page.

2. Select the ‘Create a teacher profile’ link below the pink Login button.

3. Enter the relevant details in the required fields, and click the pink Sign up button.

4. This will trigger an email to the new user advising to verify and complete the user profile.

5. When creating your profile, enter details including qualifications, experience, and preferred subjects (use the ClassCover checklist as a guide). Upload any documentation, such as certificates.

6. Update your calendar availability, so schools know they can book you and have your notifications switched on.

7. Verify your profile with the department. This happens via ClassCover when correct information is captured and your profile is 100% completed, including approval to teach and mandatory training.

8. Use the website or mobile app to manage your availability, bookings and preferences.
