Evidence tells us that young children learn best when they are actively engaged, interacting and co-constructing learning. Play provides an opportunity for children to explore ideas, concepts and develop relationships. Writing Portfolios for Assessment in English – Stages 4 and 5

Duration: 2h 30m

This module will investigate the potential for writing portfolios to be effective assessment options, as well as a teaching and learning structure that enables and encourages deep thinking and reflection from your students. This module has a four-part structure. After each part there is a deliverable. This is a Microsoft form launched through MyPL.

Part 1 of the four-part structure explores how universities and educational research present writing portfolios as a potential means of enabling student agency and growth. Part 2 explore syllabus outcomes in order to help us connect the conception and design of the writing portfolio to the Stage outcomes. Part 3 and 4 explore case studies and sample tasks across the two stages. This will enable a deep exploration of the connection between this research and syllabus outcomes. This helps participants understand and reflect on the writing portfolio's potential to effectively assess the process and product of students' writing.

While this module can be completed in isolation it is highly recommended participants engage in discussion and reflection with their colleagues.
