Meet your hosts

Shannon

Shannon is a primary teacher with experience teaching high-potential and gifted students in NSW public schools. After completing a Master of Teaching (Primary) at Western Sydney University, Shannon taught in primary schools spanning Western Sydney.

In Shannon's current role as a Senior Education Officer, she leads the Beyond the Line Program which supports initial teacher education students to complete an expenses-paid, week-long study tour with the NSW Department of Education, across regional, rural and remote NSW public schools. This aligns with her passion for supporting pre-service teachers in experiencing all of the teaching and learning opportunities offered by the department.

Current obsessions: Morning walks and iced-chai lattes.
Favourite subject to teach at school: It has to be science, I'm obsessed with any lesson that we can embed experiments or identify cross-curricular links.
Canteen or bus duty: Canteen, to have a sticky beak at snack choices.

Siobhan

Siobhan is a high school teacher, who has taught English to students across a diverse range of NSW public school settings. Siobhan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary) from the University of New South Wales.

Siobhan has a deep commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds achieve their full potential and has experience in the field of high-potential and gifted education. In her current role as a Senior Education Officer, Siobhan enjoys sharing her knowledge with beginning and pre-service teachers and raising awareness of the benefits, scholarships and opportunities available with the NSW Department of Education.

Current obsessions: Iced matcha lattes and novels by Australian author, Trent Dalton.
Favourite extra-curricular activity to run at school: Debating and public speaking competitions.
