Are you in your final year of study or have you recently entered the classroom as a beginning teacher? If so, you are encouraged to access the Beginning Teacher Information Hub which has been developed by the NSW Department of Education to provide beginning teachers with extra support and guidance as they navigate their first three years as a teacher with the department.
The Beginning Teacher Information Hub includes access to a vast range of resources, including:
- the department’s induction resources
- e-learning modules
- Beginning Teacher Support Funding information
- accreditation information and processes
- the performance and development framework
- beginning teacher essentials
- beginning teacher resources.
Eligible permanent and temporary teachers who require mandatory accreditation have access to Beginning Teacher Support Funding that is provided to NSW public schools. The funding is to support beginning teacher induction and professional development, guided by the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
As a beginning teacher, teacher mentors will support you to refine and develop your teaching practice so you can gain Proficient Teacher Accreditation. Depending on your school context, a supervisor may also take on the role as mentor to share their expertise and provide guidance on classroom practice.
