Registration process

Here you'll find information to help you register with the Department of Education as a small business.

A small business is an Australian or New Zealand-based firm that has an annual turnover of under $2 million in the latest financial year.

Step 1 – Complete the small business registration form

Download and complete the small business registration form.

Step 2 - Provide supporting documentation

When you register you need to provide supporting documentation. The supporting documentation may take one of three forms. You do not need to supply all three.

Documentation Explanation
Statutory Declaration

The content of the statutory declaration must contain the following information:

I, (full name of applicant) of (address), do apply for registration as a small business for the purposes of the Department of Finance and Services Payment Policy for Small Businesses.

(Small Business Name)
(ABN, RBN)
(Business address)


I state that (Small Business Name) is an Australian/New Zealand business which has an annual turnover of less than $2 million.
BAS Business Activity Statements for the most recently complete financial year.
Accountant letter Letter from an accountant confirming that the business is an Australian/New Zealand business and has an annual turnover of less than $2 million.

Step 3 - Register as a small business

Sign the form and email the registration form and supporting documentation to: EDConnect.mdm@det.nsw.edu.au
