Share our space this summer

Share our Space is back these summer school holidays with participating schools opening outdoor spaces to the community.

We are placing schools at the heart of our communities by sharing our space.

During holidays some schools are open as part of the Share our Space program as an extension to community land such as playgrounds and other open spaces in their local area. Access to outdoor spaces is vital to the health and wellbeing of our communities and allows the public to enjoy daily exercise.

The program is operating in participating schools from Monday 21 December 2020 to Friday 22 January 2021, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, including public holidays.

The Share Our Space program is aligned with current health advice over the summer holiday period to protect the safety and wellbeing of visitors.

We are managing all spaces in compliance with the latest health guidance and will act to close schools as necessary as the community’s safety is our highest priority. For now, all school areas including sporting ovals, gardens and basketball courts at our participating schools will remain open.

A weekly external cleaning service is being provided to all Share Our Space schools during the holidays and at the end of the program. This is to maintain a level of hygiene consistent with local parks and other community spaces.

Additional signage has been installed to remind visitors to maintain appropriate physical distancing and COVID-safe hygiene practices.

If you do choose to share our space, please spread out in available spaces, observing physical distancing rules, clean your hands and stay home if you are sick and get tested if you have flu-like symptoms.

The department will continue to monitor the NSW Government public health orders so please check the school website to see if your local school is open or visit the Share our Space webpage for a list of participating schools.
