Selective high school applications now open

If your child is currently in Year 5, apply now for Year 7 entry in 2024. Hurry applications close 16 November 2022.

Does your child have a passion for learning? Do they …

  • Display intense curiosity, focus or passion in areas of interest
  • Learn new ideas or skills quickly and easily
  • Have a good memory
  • Ask complex questions
  • Demonstrate creativity; or
  • Enjoy thinking in complex ways?

If any of the above sounds like your child, they may benefit from attending a NSW selective high school.

Selective high schools cater for high potential and intellectually gifted students. They are designed to inspire and challenge students academically while supporting their wellbeing. Selective high school students enjoy learning with other classmates who have similar intellectual abilities and interests.

However, selective high schools aren’t all about academics. They also support individual students’ interests with a wide selection of electives, extra-curricular activities, and special interest clubs.

There are 47 selective high schools across NSW, find out more at What are selective high schools?

The online application is free and easy to complete.

Once submitted, your child will be invited to sit the Selective High School Placement Test next year. Places will then be offered based on students’ test performance (academic merit).

We encourage applications from diverse students.

Our Equity Placement Model helps to make access fairer for high potential and gifted students who are currently under-represented in selective high schools.

This helps make placement fairer for students from low socio-educational advantage backgrounds, Aboriginal students, rural and remote students, and students with disability.

You can start your application online. Applications close
