Inspired approach showcases Spectacular Schools
After the disruption of the pandemic, students and schools will have the chance to showcase their creative talent through a new platform.

The creativity and resilience of NSW school students will be celebrated in a new digital showcase featuring dance, music, theatre and visual arts.
Spectacular Schools – Inspired, announced by Education and Early Childhood Learning Minister Sarah Mitchell on September 18, invites all public school students to submit their creative work, and will feature performances and new material originally developed for the 2021 School Spectacular, which was unable to be staged due to COVID-19.
“Never has there been a more important time for us to join together in a statement of resilience and hope through the arts,” Sonja Sjolander, Arts Initiatives Advisor, said.
“Schools have so much local talent that has not had a spotlight in the past 12-24 months and they deserve an opportunity to have their voice heard and their talent shared.
“This is a unique opportunity for students and schools who always hoped to be a part of the Schools Spectacular to get involved on this unique, state-wide digital stage.”
Collaborative projects, such as the collective choreographed dance items, Born to be Brave and Learning to Fly, give schools the opportunity to learn a shared work that will contribute to a large-scale group performance, connected by digital technologies.
And if you are not sure where to start, the Spectacular Schools – Inspired website has plenty of idea prompts and resources designed to get your creativity flowing.
“Every school has a story to be told. A story of inspiration. We would love to see every school engaged in this digital showcase,” Ms Sjolander said.
Spectacular Schools – Inspired will run until 8 April 2022. Schools are encouraged to make their own local contribution through music, song writing, dance, drama, visual arts, speaking, film making, graphic design, puppetry, circus arts and more.
