Have your say on our plans for the future of public education
Online consultation on the draft plan has now closed. We will publish a summary of the feedback we received on the department’s plan for NSW public education webpage within the next month.
How did staff and the community participate in the consultation on the draft plan?
Over the past six weeks we heard from staff, education partners and the community on the draft plan. We received feedback in a number of areas such as our shared purpose and aspirations, proposed focus areas for the education system, and suggestions on what could be included in our future plan.
This feedback is captured in individual and whole-school responses.
We received an enthusiastic response from our school staff. We would like to thank principals for taking the time to facilitate a discussion on the draft plan with staff and extend our appreciation to teachers and school-based staff who participated in these discussions.
Why did we consult?
We know that change is not possible without the support of those responsible for leading and supporting it.
We listened to learn about what our staff and community had to say about the plan, and what needs to be included as we set our vision and priorities for the coming years.
How long was the consultation period?
The online consultation period was open from 17 July and closed on 25 August.
More detailed discussions on the different areas of the plan, such as focus areas, were held with teachers, principals and school-based support staff.
How will my feedback on the draft plan be used?
Over the next four weeks we will review, analyse, and further test our understanding of what we heard during consultation, and incorporate this feedback in the final version of the plan. It is important that we take the time to understand and learn from the different perspectives and suggestions.
We will also share a summary of what we heard during this consultation period. We will make this summary available on the department’s plan for NSW public education webpage within the next month.
The plan for NSW public education will be published in Term 4.
