Reports and results

NAPLAN results are reported in a number of ways, including national results, individual student reports and school-level reporting.

NAPLAN 2024 student reports

Parents and carers will receive student reports from their school.

NAPLAN results for schools

Schools should refer to NESA for information on accessing results and reports.

Further information is also available on the ACARA NAPLAN results and reports website.

Reading a NAPLAN individual student report

The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) has information to help with reading student NAPLAN reports including a short video and brochure for parents and carers.

For more information about NAPLAN results and individual student reports, including the brochure for parents and carers in other languages and the student and school summary report (SSSR), visit the ACARA NAPLAN results and reports website.

NAPLAN proficiency standards

From 2023, students’ results will be reported against 4 proficiency standards. This replaces the previous 10 bands and national minimum standard.

There are 4 proficiency levels for each assessment area at each year level:

  • Exceeding: the student’s result exceeds expectations at the time of testing.
  • Strong: the student’s result meets challenging but reasonable expectations at the time of testing.
  • Developing: the student’s result indicates that they are working towards expectations at the time of testing.
  • Needs additional support: the student’s result indicates that they are not achieving the learning outcomes expected at the time of testing. They are likely to need additional support to progress satisfactorily.

For more information visit the ACARA proficiency level descriptions.
