The NSW Department of Education is partnering with La Trobe University to deliver the Nexus Primary Program in NSW public primary schools. Under the program, up to 30 participants will complete a Master of Teaching (Primary), whilst gaining classroom experience through paid employment in a NSW public school. Studies will commence in July 2024.

The two-year program features mentoring and support for all participants, including a La Trobe University academic mentor, a school-based mentor, in-person intensives and peer networking.

Applications close Friday, 12 July 2024 and are assessed on a rolling basis. Please visit La Trobe University's Nexus Program webpage to apply directly via the university.

Financial support
  • $12,500 study allowance (subject to tax)
  • Paid part-time employment whilst studying
Guaranteed employment
  • Receive a permanent position in a NSW public primary school upon successful completion of the program
Ongoing mentoring and support
  • Wrap-around support from university and school mentors

  • Access to Nexus peer network and two in-person intensives (travel cost covered by La Trobe University)
