Program details

Teachers employed in the Classroom Cover Stream can be offered a role for up to three years with a possibility of extension.

The temporary full-time role can be offered as a temporary part-time role, however, this is at the discretion of the school principal.

The temporary appointment can end at any time during the engagement by the principal or teacher as per the arrangement outlined in Conditions of Employment for Temporary School Teachers.

Application process

Yes - the teacher must have or create a ClassCover profile, as schools in the program use ClassCover to book the teacher for classroom relief.

School principals will need to contact their Director, Educational Leadership, for this request.

All program roles (vacant and filled) are listed on the Classroom Cover Stream webpage.

If a teacher is interested in a role, they should contact the hiring manager specified on the expression of interest advertisement.

Benefits and incentives

Teachers employed in the Classroom Cover Stream under a ‘hub and spoke’ model, are entitled to claim travel entitlements. The teacher is entitled to claim travel from home, to and from the spoke schools, or from the hub school to a spoke school if working a part day.

The teacher submits their travel request in SAP for approval by the reporting officer (hub school). SAP HR ESS travel expense claims must be submitted within one month of completion of travel as per the Travel Guidelines.

  4. Claim multiple travel expenses against a Blanket Authority to Travel (BATT). (staff only)

Teachers employed in the Classroom Cover Stream under a ‘hub and spoke’ model, who are engaged in teacher positions in 4, 6 and 8 point rural and remote incentive schools will be eligible to receive financial incentives. The rural teacher incentive and experienced teacher benefit payments are calculated based on the school with the highest level of transfer points, where there is a variance between the schools in the hub and spoke group. All other incentives are calculated based on the hub school.

Yes - Classroom Cover Stream teachers are entitled to professional learning and relief from face-to-face teaching. Time allocated is managed by your reporting principal.
