About the Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas)

Find out if the Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas) could support you to acquire additional competencies in one of the following specialist teaching areas:

Teach and make a difference as a teacher of a specialist teaching area

Financial support
  • $20,000 per year of full-time study
  • $500 per week practicum allowance
Professional Development
  • Upskill as a careers advisor, teacher librarian or English as an Additional Language/Dialect teacher
Tranferrable skills
  • Develop transferrable skills that will enable you to teach in a variety of school settings
Eligibility
  • Temporary teachers who hold a current permanent teaching approval with the NSW Department of Education
  • Permanent teachers with the NSW Department of Education

Temporary Teachers

The Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas) for Temporary Teachers – Scholarships for studies commencing in Semester 1, 2022 are available for teachers currently employed in a temporary specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE).

Applications for the temporary teachers pathway close at 11:59 pm on Friday, 27 August 2021.


Appointed Teachers

The Teach and Learn Scholarship (Specialist Teaching Areas) for Appointed Teachers – Scholarships are available for teachers recommended for a permanent specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE) following merit selection or permanently appointed to a specialist teaching position (minimum 0.6 FTE) and who are required to undertake further studies as a condition of employment.

There is no closing date for the appointed teachers pathway. Applications are accepted all year round.
