Eligibility criteria
Find out if you’re eligible to apply for the Inclusive Practice in Education Scholarship
To apply, permanent teachers and school leaders will need to:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be permanently appointed to a NSW public school with a minimum of 12 months (203 days) successful teaching experience
- not be an approved teacher with a department recognised qualification in Special Education (i.e. if you are flagged to teach Special Education and you do not hold a recognised qualification in Special Education you are eligible to apply)
- be supported by a recommendation from your current school principal and one other referee
- be enrolled in or committed to enrolling in and completing a recognised masters in inclusive/special education or; a recognised graduate diploma in inclusive/special education or; a masters with specialisation in the area of deaf and hard of hearing or blind and low vision
- be willing to enter into a Deed of Agreement, a legally binding agreement that outlines the responsibilities of both the scholarship recipient and the department
- be willing to remain in your current permanent full time teaching position or accept an appointment as a permanent full time special education teacher in any primary or secondary NSW public school on completion of your studies for a minimum period of three years
- be willing to participate in the Inclusive Practice in Education network.
To apply, temporary and casual teachers and school leaders will need to:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be an approved teacher for permanent employment with the NSW Department of Education and have a minimum of 12 months (203 days) successful teaching experience within the last five years
- not be an approved teacher with a department recognised qualification in Special Education (i.e. if you are flagged to teach Special Education and you do not hold a recognised qualification in Special Education you are eligible to apply)
- be supported by a recommendation from your current school principal and one other referee
- be enrolled in or committed to enrolling in and completing a recognised masters in inclusive/special education or; a recognised graduate diploma in inclusive/special education or; a masters with specialisation in the area of deaf and hard of hearing or blind and low vision
- maintain continued university enrolment and complete your recognised qualification within two years
- be willing to enter into a Scholarship Agreement, a legally binding agreement that outlines the responsibilities of both the scholarship recipient and the department
- be willing to accept an appointment as a permanent full time special education teacher to any primary or secondary NSW public school, on completion of your studies for a minimum period of three years
