Deputy Secretary, School Operations and Performance, Murat Dizdar, said the television programs and work booklets will complement the work teachers have done to support learning in the home environment.

“The activities can be completed without access to the internet and are tailored for students of all ages and stages of learning,” Mr Dizdar said.

“They don’t replace the teaching and learning programs provided by schools, but are an option for teachers, parents and carers wanting to supplement students’ learning.

“Teachers can select which programs to use, modify them to suit their own classes, and use the accompanying work booklets as evidence of what the students have learnt.

“I congratulate the ABC and department staff who have worked so well together to produce such a valuable resource in time for our students and teachers.”

The booklets address topics in a range of subjects, with English, maths, science, art and geography for lower primary, the same subjects plus history for upper primary, with design and technology and PDHPE added for secondary students.

The programs are broadcast daily during the week on ABC ME, with programs for the youngest students starting from 10:00am and continuing through the day until the latest start for secondary students at 2:25pm.

Students can complete the activities before, during and after the daily episodes, which are also available online after they are broadcast.
