Developed to support learning from home during Covid lockdowns, the “Ed Live” videos cover a range of topics across the school curriculum – featuring high profile people and celebrities.

To date, they’ve had over 1.4 million views, with Dr Karl’s scientific sessions on cube-shaped poo, falling cats and other mysteries being the most popular.

“We developed these videos to engage and help parents during lockdown, and our teachers also used them in their learning from home lesson plans,” Secretary of Education, Georgina Harrisson said.

“With talent like Guy Sebastian, Emma Watkins from The Wiggles and Dr Karl, it’s no wonder they’re popular.”

Ed Live also features How to Train your Dragon author Cressida Cowell and the theatre cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, along with organisations like the GWS Giants, Sydney Theatre Company and even Qantas.

“Initially, the videos were live streamed daily and then accessible via the department’s website. This library is now available on demand to everyone,” Ms Harrisson said.

Launched in July 2020, the Ed Live videos are presented by over 70 of Australia’s foremost educators, artists, zookeepers, athletes and industry experts.

Ed Live on demand will continue to grow throughout the year, with topics like reading hour and maths in the pipeline.

The videos are available – free – at https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/learning-from-home/education-live-catch-up.
