Cabramatta Public School students know how to get full value from their four-letter words.

Students from the school were among the age group winners at the 2024 Junior Australian Scrabble Championships at Cabra-Vale Diggers Club on 25 August.

The school took out the quinella in the U12 division at the championships, with Year 5 student Phi Long Ma the winner and Alvin Korn the runner-up.

The school has an active Scrabble Club that recently attracted the attention of ABC 702 presenter, Craig Reucassel.

Mr Reucassel travelled to the school to record a video segment, which he posted to the ABC’s Facebook and Instagram platforms.

Year 6 Cabramatta Public School student, Jeffery Lam, was runner-up in the U14 division.

All NSW participants at the championships attend public schools.

Overall runner-up, Ryder Lo from Oakhill Drive Public School, is only 9 years old and defeated many older high school players in his run to the final.
