Work experience
Work experience provides a general introduction to the world of work. Students are able to observe a variety of work, usually in a field of their choice, and undertake supervised tasks appropriate to their knowledge and skill level.

Amazon Web Services Workplace Learning Program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
Career Programs and Aboriginal Education and Communities directorates in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) has developed an opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to take part in a workplace learning program. This program will strengthen transitions from school into post-school pathways centred on digital careers.
Students will have the opportunity to gain knowledge about the various roles available within the digital technology industry. Students will take part in energising seminars, get ‘hands-on’ building in the Cloud, and develop their career readiness with the help of AWS’s talent and recruitment team. AWS have planned for students to experience real-world examples of cloud technology through the lens of some their most exciting local customers.
Workplace Learning dates: Wednesday 31 July – Friday 2 August
Who can apply? Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Years 9-11.
Location: The program will run at Amazon Web Service’s Sydney office - L37, 2 Park Street, Sydney 2000.
Anticipated numbers: 15-20 students
How can students apply? Complete the expression of interest online form by Friday 28 June, 2024 at 5.00pm.
Information session: An information session has been organised on Thursday 13 June 2024, from 5.00pm – 5.30pm. Interested students, parents and teachers are welcome to attend to find out more via the registration link.
Students requiring financial assistance for travel and accommodation may seek support from their school and/or organisations who provide support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students such as The Clontarf Foundation, National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA), Community Connectors, The Smith Family, Public Education Foundation and NDIS programs.
