I was born in a war torn country in Central East Africa. My earliest memory is running away.

We settled in Tanzania, which was where I grew up in a refugee camp, and then we flew to Coffs Harbour when I was about 15 years.

Coming to school in Australia was very different. Having teachers who cared about our education, who really invested their time supporting us, that was a big change for my education.

And it just convinced me this is what I was born to do.

I chose to go back to teach in the school where I was a student because they offered me a home. And I still feel like this is my home. I really wanted to go back and be able to offer

the same for anyone who goes to that school, a place where they belong.

It's the most rewarding job. We get to make a difference for the future generations. You're creating a future and the only way to do it is to become a teacher.

It's just my second year teaching, but I'm excited for what the future holds.
