Staff portal app

Designed to simplify school administration, the app will be offered initially to school principals as it will help them to carry out tasks in just a few taps.

Portability, seamless authentication, email-free and task-focused notifications all bring about huge time-saving. It is an extension to the staff portal but optimised for mobile.

The first release of the NSW DoE Portal app for Apple iPhone is live on the App Store.

While the app can be installed by anyone, only school principals are able to sign in and use the initial version.

The app is designed to deliver:

  • a smoother mobile experience when using the staff portal
  • fast authentication to various corporate applications
  • push notification alerts
  • easy access to essentials, SchoolBiz and staff directory search.

The app is designed to be intuitive so formal training is not required, however, the 'help' section in the app offers useful advice or choose 'contact us" to talk to a customer service representative.

New functionality will be added to the staff portal app through updates released to the App Store, to continuously improve the experience for school leaders. A future version will be made available to all NSW DoE staff, targeted for release in the first half of 2020.

Find answers to commonly asked questions about the staff portal app.

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone.
  2. Select the Search icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Enter the app name NSW DoE Staff Portal.
  4. Tap Search.
  5. Tap Get.
  6. Tap Install.
  7. When the installation is complete, you can tap the app to open it.

Follow the steps below.

  1. Open the App Store app.
  2. Tap Updates on the bottom of the screen.
  3. Tap the Update button next to the staff portal app.

You can also allow updates to take place automatically.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap iTunes & App Store.
  3. Under automatic downloads, tap Updates to toggle the switch on.

Now app updates will take place automatically.

You can tell your phone to not download updates using your mobile data so it only updates when it’s connected to Wi-Fi.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap iTunes & App Store.
  3. Tap Use Mobile Data to toggle the switch off.

The first release of the staff portal app is optimised for iPhones only. The staff portal app for iPad is planned for release.

The staff portal app provides you with task focused features that enable you to act quickly and effectively.

The first release of the NSW DoE staff portal app will be available for iPhones only. We are working on an optimised version for Android.

When the app installation is complete, tap the app to open it. The app will prompt you to sign in with your department login details.
