Windows 10 and software catalogue
Checking Windows 10 software compatibility
With the release of Windows 10 into the eT4L environment during term 4 2016, schools are likely to have a mix of platforms with Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 currently available.
Deployment testing of each title in Software Catalogue has determined which titles will install on Windows 10 and which will not. It's important to be aware of titles that are incompatible with Windows 10 and avoid associating and deploying those titles to any computers now running Windows 10.
It's also important to disassociate all incompatible titles currently listed against a Windows 7 PC in UDM before installing Windows 10 onto it.
List of known incompatible titles
The following list of titles did not pass final testing with UDM deployment to Windows 10 devices. It is expected that many of these titles have newer versions available from the vendor that are compatible with Windows 10. If your school requires any of these titles and an updated version is not yet in Software Catalogue, it will need to be submitted for packaging following the regular software submission procedure.
Software catalogue and licensed software
REMINDER - Just because titles are in the Software Catalogue, it does not mean they can be freely deployed to computers in your school. Please check the details of each title. The field Licence Type shown above indicates whether the title is freeware, is covered by an Enterprise licence paid for by DoE or whether a Licence is required.
For all titles listed as requiring a licence, it is the school's responsibility to contact the vendor and purchase the appropriate number of licences before deploying the software via UDM. All deployments from UDM are logged and school auditors have access to this information. Schools are required to provide proof of purchase of licences upon request.
Providing feedback in software catalogue
Windows 10 presents a completely new environment for users. While titles in Software Catalogue that are listed as being compatible should install with no issues, the actual functionality of the program may differ under Windows 10.
Software Catalogue allows schools to add comments and feedback about each title to assist other schools when choosing software. If you discover any issues or workarounds when using a title with Windows 10, please take some time to add comments to the title's page in the catalogue.
If you are having issues with Windows 10 or deploying software via UDM, after carefully following the above instructions and links, please contact EDConnect.
Please be ready to provide EDConnect with details of what you have tried and what on-screen messages you see.
