NAPLAN Online 2019 transition readiness
The same preparation approach that led to a successful transition for schools in 2018 is being adopted for schools intending to transition in 2019. Preparation activities for NSW schools include participation in:
- a school readiness test during term 3, 2018
- a practice test during late March / early April 2019
All department schools that are ready to move online in 2019 will be supported to do so.
School readiness test
The school readiness test is designed to check a school’s readiness to conduct NAPLAN Online. The school readiness test was held from 20 August to 7 September 2018.
The readiness test consisted of two 40 minute assessments: an omnibus test with reading, conventions of language and numeracy items, and a writing task. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participated in the school readiness test. Year 3 students did not participate in a writing assessment.
School readiness test participation
Schools selected their participation week within the readiness test window, though schools encouraged to participate during Week 6, Term 3 (27-31 August 2018).
Training to support transitioning schools includes eLearning modules, and Adobe Connect and face to face training sessions, delivered by NAPLAN Online training facilitators.
Training information, including a training schedule with dates, locations and booking instructions is available on the NAPLAN Online training webpage.
All schools transitioning to NAPLAN Online in 2019 will participate in a practice test 25 March – 5 April 2019. The practice test will require the participation of the entire school cohort of NAPLAN year students completing one 45 minute omnibus test. More details will be provided to schools to support their participation in the practice test in 2019.
