NAPLAN Online 2020 transition readiness
The same preparation approach used in 2018 and 2019 will continue for schools transitioning in 2020. Preparation activities for NSW schools include participation in:
- a school readiness test during term 3, 2019
- a practice test during late March / early April 2020
School readiness test
The school readiness test is for schools transitioning to NAPLAN Online in 2020 and is designed to check a school’s readiness to conduct NAPLAN Online. The school readiness test will be held from 2 - 20 September 2019
The readiness test consists of two 40 minute assessments: an omnibus test with reading, conventions of language and numeracy items, and a writing task. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in the school readiness test. Year 3 students do not participate in a writing assessment.
School readiness test participation
Schools select their participation week within the readiness test window. School select which week they complete the test within this window.
Training to support transitioning schools includes eLearning modules, and Adobe Connect and face-to-face training sessions, delivered by NAPLAN Online training facilitators.
Training information, including a training schedule with dates, locations and booking instructions is available on the NAPLAN Online training webpage.
All schools transitioning to NAPLAN Online in 2020 will participate in a practice test late March to early April 2020. The practice test will require the participation of the entire school cohort of NAPLAN year students completing one 45 minute omnibus test. More details will be provided to schools to support their participation in the practice test in 2020.
