With so many schools and staff impacted by COVID-19 and floods this term, a number of the SLI’s programs and offerings were rescheduled to allow leaders to focus on supporting teachers and students.

However, many of our other initiatives were able to continue – not least, the start of the first year of the new FASTstream program, helping equip teachers and teaching graduates with the skills they need to become school principals within 10 years.

The SLI FASTstream team has enjoyed visiting participants, their mentors and principals at schools across NSW this term, helping participants settle into their new roles and school communities.

Applications for the next FASTstream placements in 2023 are now open and there is already strong interest, with 110 potential applicants attending an information seminar this week.

We were also excited to launch our brand new podcast, Leadership in Focus, featuring SLI Director Joanne Jarvis and a range of experts on key leadership topics and themes. You can stream it from Spotify or access it from our Leadership Resources pages for staff.

Other highlights this term have included:

• More than 500 assistant principals and head teachers have enrolled in our Middle Leader Induction program.
• We opened registrations for our new Principal Leadership Learning program, featuring webinars and discussion panels with global leadership and education experts. The first events will be held next term.
• 31 Principal Facilitators have been selected to support participants in our Growing Great Leaders program, Senior Leadership – Aspiring Principals Leadership Program and the Semester 2 Principal Induction Conference.
• Our revamped Leadership Resources staff pages include new resources, information on different leadership roles and details about our programs
