Principal Induction Conference commences

The 2022 Principal Induction Conference is underway.

Congratulations to the 112 primary and secondary NSW public school principals starting their induction today.

The School Leadership Institute’s Principal Induction Conference (PIC) is delivered online over 3 days. Participants will be supported throughout the conference by 25 Principal Facilitators from schools across the state.

Conference presenters from the department and external subject matter experts work alongside the School Leadership Institute (SLI) team to deliver a program contextually relevant to the role of a principal leading a NSW public school.

“We’re so pleased to be delivering the 2022 Principal Induction Conference,” SLI Director Joanne Jarvis said.

“Principals play a vital role in managing their school, leading teaching and learning and building positive cultures to bring out the best in their staff and students.

“We hope you enjoy the next 3 days by making the most of the fantastic professional learning on offer, while also embracing the opportunity to create new support networks among your peers.”

Participants in the 2022 PIC will:

  • enhance their knowledge of the principal role, including key departmental policies and priorities, to effectively meet key accountabilities;
  • strengthen their knowledge and understanding of key leadership and management practices to drive school improvement; and
  • articulate their moral purpose in order to create the conditions for a shared vision which places the students at the centre of all decisions.

Once they complete the PIC, principals are invited to participate in the SLI’s Growing Great Leaders program.

GGL develops student-centred leadership by helping principals embed evidence-informed theory into practice within a school context, supporting core business to improve student and teacher learning outcomes.

Principals are also encouraged to sign up for the new Principals Leadership Learning series, which features webinars and facilitated group discussions, as well as a Principal Leadership Hub, providing principals with the latest in evidence-informed school leadership theory and practices.
