The School Leadership team has been recognised for our world-class leadership development programs with a 2021 ACEL (Australian Council for Educational Leaders) NSW Leadership Award.

Director Joanne Jarvis accepted the award on behalf of the SLI team at an online presentation on Monday 11 October 2021.

“It’s fantastic for our team to be recognised with such a prestigious award,” Ms Jarvis said.

“I’m enormously proud of our achievements and want to thank my team for their commitment, hard work and dedication in helping shape a future that enables all educational leaders to positively influence the learning of teachers and students in our public schools.”

In presenting the award, ACEL NSW President Dr Kylie Lipscombe said the SLI team had demonstrated exemplary performance in establishing and leading world-class, evidence-informed, future-focused leadership development programs and initiatives.

Minister for Education, Sarah Mitchell, said school leaders played a crucial role in their schools and wider communities and had demonstrated their agility, innovation and commitment to students while managing the impacts of COVID-19.

The SLI offers leadership induction programs for all newly appointed principals, deputy principals, assistant principals and head teachers, where leaders learn about their key responsibilities and develop their leadership skills.

It provides formal support, development opportunities and access to programs and resources for all public school educators, from those contemplating taking their first step into formal leadership, through to the most experienced principals.

The 2021 ACEL NSW Annual Branch Awards recognised 16 award recipients across five categories.

The SLI was one of 3 public education recipients in the NSW Leadership Award category, along with the Yates Avenue Public School Leadership Team and Terry Martin, Careers Advisor at Port Hacking High School.
