Curriculum and policy monitoring
See the range of internal processes the department utilises to monitor curriculum and policy implementation in schools.
These processes give the department, as a system, assurance that all schools are meeting the minimum requirements for the registration of government schools.
All schools must have an understanding of the links between the Education Act and the policy, Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12 Policy, and the Registration manual for the government schooling system.
Evidence gathered by the school to demonstrate meeting the minimum requirements is seen as business as usual (BAU). All schools must have an understanding of, and utilise, the monitoring processes to ensure they are able to participate in random inspections and curriculum and policy monitoring meetings.
The department uses a variety of internal assurance measures to monitor curriculum and policy implementation in schools. These include:
- curriculum and policy monitoring meetings (CPM)
- curriculum self-assessment processes such as HSC monitoring
- discussions between the Director, Education Leadership and school principals.
