Leadership Development Initiative - Highly Accomplished Teacher (LDI/HA) FAQs
This page is intended to assist participants with completing the written response questions in the Leadership Development Initiative/Highly Accomplished Teacher (LDI/HA) expression of interest (EOI). It is recommended you complete your responses in a Word document before completing the participant EOI in Survey Monkey. Mentors are recommended to go directly to Survey Monkey.
The Leadership Development Initiative is intended to grow the instructional leadership capacity of classroom teachers aspiring to leadership positions. Classroom teachers based in NSW public schools are now invited to submit an expression of interest to participate in the 2019 LDI/HA as a participant. To check for eligibility for Highly Accomplished accreditation, refer to the department’s Accreditation at Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Procedures, 27 Jan 2017 (page 3).
All questions must be completed. Incomplete forms will not be considered by the selection panel.

While participation in the Leadership Development Initiative/Highly Accomplished Teacher (LDI/HA) will be richly rewarding, it will involve a significant commitment of time and effort.
As a participant, you will need to commit to a year-long program plus undertake NESA accreditation at the Highly Accomplished Teacher career stage. The LDI/HA will include a two-day professional learning and planning conference in Sydney 14-15 March 2019. Further professional learning conferences will be held 17-18 June and in November 2019 and March 2020.
You will also be expected to meet with your mentor about your project on a regular basis.
In Term 3, 2019 and Term 2, 2020 you will be required to complete a survey which will assist us to evaluate the impact of the Leadership Development Initiative.
Eligible participants in secondary schools and rural and remote schools will receive a grant to support participation in the program. You will be responsible for managing these funds including arranging accommodation and travel. Metropolitan primary participants will be school-funded, that is, required to cover costs involved in attending conferences and mentoring activities with school funds.
Your capacity to commit to this program should be carefully considered before submitting an expression of interest.
Your principal is required to endorse your application and may be contacted to discuss the information provided.

17. Which Highly Accomplished Teacher standard descriptors do you plan to address in your LDI/HA project (evidence set)? These should align to your CESE theme/s in Question 16.
Note: you are required to nominate 6 - 8 of the following 11 standard descriptors from the APSfT. You may also choose to nominate an additional Highly Accomplished Teacher standard descriptor.
1.2.3 Expand understanding of how students learn using research and workplace knowledge.

24. In expressing interest in the 2019 Leadership Development Initiative/Highly Accomplished Teacher, I understand that I have the following project commitments:
- Time required to complete the LDI/HA including a HA project progress survey and an evaluation and completion report.
- Attendance and engagement with all components of the LDI/HA including all meetings, professional learning conferences and mentoring activities.
- Responsibility for the LDI/HA reporting process for my school’s Annual Report.
- NESA registration for accreditation at Highly Accomplished Teacher.
- Submitting annotated an illustration of practice (evidence set) produced as a result of my LDI/HA project which may be published on the Leadership Pathways intranet page.
- Responsibility for managing my own budget, including travel and accommodation requirements.
- I understand the program commitments
- My principal has endorsed my application and I have provided her/him with a copy of this application.
Applications will be assessed by the selection panel in November/December 2018 and the successful applicants notified no later than Tuesday, 11 December 2018.
