Your child’s school will communicate with you and provide learning activities for your child to do at home using their normal communication tools.
Communication tools may include the school website, newsletters, emails and other online tools.
Additionally, teachers may move some or all of your child’s learning activities into online spaces, using online tools such as email, Office 365, G Suite for Education and Adobe Connect.
Where digital or online options are not available, schools may use non-digital, offline strategies.
Receiving learning content
Digital learning activities
These activities can be delivered to your child using email, USB drives or online platforms.
They activities may include:
- Interactive material (documents, slide decks, quizzes, videos, images, audio)
- Recorded lessons, similar to Wootube
- Screen captures created using tools such as Adobe Presenter
- Videos with quizzes.
Many face-to-face activities can be replaced by simple online activities.
Printed and digital material
Teachers can prepare textbooks, photocopies of reference materials, curriculum, and assignments in advance for distribution to affected students. These can be in hard copy, digital files or kits that your child may use at home to continue their learning.
These may include:
- calendars or schedules of work to be completed
- directions for homework, projects, or written assignments
- excerpts from textbooks or other reading materials
- sample assessments.
Digital material can be sent to your child on a USB drive (where available).
Structuring your child's day
Your child's teacher should have a planned schedule that they have given to you and your child so you know what they should be covering each day.
If possible, teachers will have daily check-ins with their students, including your child, who should have a daily to-do list to work from.
They may also have regularly scheduled live lessons, delivered using Microsoft Teams.
Your child should be submitting work regularly using a consistent method of delivery and be receiving feedback in a timely fashion.
