Learning Package 1: Creative arts - Powerful pentatonic

In this lesson your child will look at how musicians can use a pentatonic scale to compose music.

Learning Package 2: Science - Wetlands birds

Your child will engage with three short videos about wetland birds from the rangers at Sydney Olympic Park. Learn about the history of Homebush Bay, meet an ecologist, complete your own birdwatching survey, explore the adaptations of the ibis and watch an ibis ceremonial dance.

Everyone's an Author is a digital creative writing program featuring ten great Australian authors. Each week an author focuses on a different aspect of writing and a learning journal is released for student to use. This week explore 'Funny Fiction' with Oliver Phommavanh.

In this lesson your child will be inspired by the artist Tracy Lee Stum to create their own artwork.

Learning Package 2: 'The Incredible Freedom Machines' by Kirli Saunders

Watch Kirli Saunders, NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year 2020, proud Gunai woman and award-winning international children's author and poet read her story 'The Incredible Freedom Machines'. After listening, complete a fun activity based on the story.

Discover the variety of minibeasts in your garden with Karen from Sydney Science Education.

Learning Package 1: Creative arts – Rubbish rap

Your child will learn a rap about the environment which focuses on beat and rhythm.

Learning Package 2: Multiple subjects – Pirate school

Learn how to become a pirate with an entertaining video made with the Australian National Maritime Museum.

These learning packages have been designed for use in the home in the event that you are unable to access the learning provided by your school or your school is temporarily unable to provide a learning program. Each learning package has options for students who may find the work too difficult or too easy. We recognise that students across NSW have a diverse range of learning needs and some of these materials may need to be adjusted to support your child.
