Get off the couch and get moving in your backyard with Sydney Swans player Ollie Florent.

Oh, hey guys, Ollie Florent here from the Sydney Swans. Today I'm gonna be giving you some tips on how to get yourself off the couch and into the backyard to do some, I don't know, fun exercises that can keep you busy during this isolation period. So we'll jump outside and I'll show you what I got. Hey, this is my little brother Jai.

Hello everyone.

Jai is, how old are you?

19.

Ollie Florent

19 and he's gonna be helping us out with some fitness and whatnot. Some skills and yeah, we'll get stuck into it. So the first one is the warmup. Warmup, the legs like that. We're in the rain here, it's actually lucky we've got a cover, but yeah, I'll switch it up. Feeling warm? –

Jai Florent

Yeah, I'm ready. Nice and loose.

Ollie Florent

Now we go into these ones. I think I'm getting there. I think I'm getting warmer. And change. It's slippery All right, now we'll go into the, what's next? We'll do some arm rotation. So just to loosen up the arms, we've got around in circles like that and then we'll go the other way Back. And forward, oh, and back. All right now we'll just do some star jumps to really get us prepared.

Jai Florent

You do these ones before the game?

Ollie Florent

Yeah, I like to do as much as I can. I like to do some of these but I'd like to get into the real stuff. So now we've got, we grab the footies out. Really important to, I know I'm lucky to have two footies here at home, but for those who don't have footballs or stuff like that, you can just get, I've got some tennis rackets here some ball, some balls, I've also got a basketball over there which we'll be implementing into this little exercise. So we'll get stuck into it. So for now we got a ball each and we'll, for the first one we'll do trammies, which we like the call them. So we'll go, it's just alternating into the right and left hand. And making sure we're doing that, making sure that we're going a bit faster, faster. And on the count of three Jai's gonna call right or left. And if he calls a left, we'll be only hand balling on our left and if he calls a right, we'll only be hand balling on our right. And go Jai.

Three, two, one, left.

Ollie Florent

Good transition. Jai's has been practicing. I'll call the next one and we'll go right to now. Cool work. All right, now we'll go to make it a bit interesting. We'll add a basketball in also and just to change it up a little bit. All right, now we'll go overs and unders. So what we'll be doing is, I'll bounce the ball to you and you hand ball it to me. And then this, the basketball is bouncing. The footie is hand balling, all right let's go. Oh, chipped me. All right, that's good, that's good. All right now to make it interesting, we're gonna get the tennis rackets out and now I'm gonna be hitting the ball into Jai and then he's just gotta simply catch it. So it's really easy, this one. He should catch every single one. Now just throw it back to my hand. Yeah, there we go. Oh, there's one drop. Your hands a bit cold or we needed to do a bit more of a warmup you reckon?

Jai Florent

I'm all right. You good? A bit chilly?

Ollie Florent

A bit chilly, that's all right.

Jai Florent

Watch the windows mate.

Ollie Florent

Don't tell mom that and now we'll switch it up. Go easy on me.

Jai Florent

One handers?

Ollie Florent

That's one. That's two. Oh, couldn't get to that. All right, now into the fitness component, which is really important especially playing sport, you're gonna need to have a good fitness base and it's really, just doing these exercises at home will obviously, you'll benefit from those and making sure we're doing it regularly. So if you do it once it's obviously not gonna do too much but maybe a few, three, four times a week. Well you definitely see some improvements. So the first one we've got is mountain climbers.

Jai Florent

You all right mate?

Ollie Florent

Yeah, okay. Yeah, that's good. Really keeping the muscles warm. All right, the next one we'll go into the partner planks and with a high five in between. So watch out, move that back a bit, move this mat. And so the aim is to do, well hold the plank for as long as you can. I don't think I can hold it for too long but I think he might win this. But we're gonna be high fiving as much as we possibly can during this. And then I'll demonstrate the next fitness component after it. So you're on your forearms and your legs up, keeping your back straight and your butt under and we'll go now. Really turning on the abs and the glutes. It's something that is required today. Good work. Now we'll go into the pushup part with partner taps or partner high fives as well. Now if you can't do this, there's an alternate way to do it. So the alternate way is to be on your knees, arms like that. Push, tap, push, tap. But if you think you're capable of going onto you're all fours, go for it. All right, let's go. And we'll call it, you're not capable? (Jai laughs) All right, let's go. Try and tire out your partner. I've got ya.

Jai Florent

I'm getting up. - Nah, you're on your, oh okay. Good, hundred more. You good with that?

Ollie Florent

Okay. I think I've got him. I've got him, I've got him. You getting a bit slower mate? You're getting a bit slow. I think I won that. Woo!

Jai Florent

Could've gone all day.

Ollie Florent

I am actually pretty tired after that. So get me some breath. Now we'll go as quickly as possible into the sit ups. Now we're gonna be facing each other once again. So we'll get into that position with, and we'll be passing the ball at the highest point. So when you go down, touch the ball over your head, knees up and pass it like that. Try and keep your arms straight. That's good. Now go faster. Do you reckon we can add another ball?

Yeah sure.

Ollie Florent

All right.

[both laugh]

All right, that's good. Well done. Obviously these exercises can be performed for longer periods of time but for now we'll move on to the fun part. So we'll be doing some, we'll be doing, I'll be, I'm gonna teach you how to hand ball, I'm gonna teach you how to kick before we get into anything. So basically for those who haven't picked up one of these before, it's the best game in the world. I'm gonna teach you how to do it. So it's as easy as this. Hold your hand out with the ball like that you want the laces to be facing you. Once that's set and you got the ball out in front of you. This, you wanna close your hand like a fist, do your fist and you wanna hit the ball around here. Simply follow through like that. Beautiful. Making sure the ball is spinning backwards. Now we'll go into the kicking, the kicking part of it. Same thing, you want the laces to be facing outwards.You wanna make a diamond with your hand, so try and do a diamond and then the diamond is going to be placed like that on the football. Make sure you're, a firm grip is required. Now it's really important to make sure you're not throwing it up and kicking it like that. You wanna make sure that you're just dropping it on your foot, so like that. Controlling the ball with your hands. Try and let go as well at the last second with your other hand, your opposite hand, that's kicking. So you don't wanna drop it too early, but yeah. All right, now we'll go into a little game. So the game, it's first one to five. It has to be perfectly on the chest. Now who knows? I might go five in a row, but it's a bit of an honesty system here. You're gonna have to get the other person to score you on whether it's directly on your chest and if you think it was on the chest, too bad, you don't have a say, so good luck. One.

No, too far right. One.

No, I won't give that.

No a bit to the left.

Two – nil

That's one.

No, definitely not.

Three - nil.

Yes that's one.

Ollie Florent

No, no way. Four nil. No it's gross. Five, beautiful. And that's that.

All right, now we're gonna move on to I believe a different one. So whatever ball you've got is great. Get every single ball you've got. As you can see here, we've got a bin and we are gonna be trying to, we're gonna have four shots at the bin. However many we can make from a certain spot. You choose, hand ball, throw, kick, whatever you think is gonna get it in this bin. We're gonna do.

So we'll do a little challenge that's going to be me versus my little brother Jai and the loser, what's the loser? Is the loser shaving his head?

Jai Florent

No, the loser can,

Ollie Florent

What's the loser doing?

Jai Florent

Loser can jump in the bin and close it.

And stay there for the night. Get in the bin and, all right. Can we do a punishment of some extra pushups? Not on your knees.

Jai Florent

Yeah, all right. We'll see how we go.

Ollie Florent

All right, good luck. So what are you going to do? Are we throwing them in? I reckon that's gonna be a basketball shot.

Jai Florent

Yep.

Ollie Florent

Ok. So basketball shot, hand ball, no one hand ball, one kick. And then you gotta grab the tennis racket and just plop it in like that. I don't really want to embarrass myself here but here you go. No - Here we go tennis one. (both laugh) Get in, all right this other one. - That's sad. That's not great is it?

Jai Florent

Bad foot.

Ollie Florent

That is not great but I've only got to get one in and they call me part of the splash brothers. So I'm sinking the basketball shot and the basketball please if you don't mind. All right. So I'll just finish it off here. That's one. Oh. Two. Probably wasn't the smartest thing to do but yeah. That's another little fun game you can do whilst you're at home in the backyard. Just sort of make do I guess from wherever you can find.

Jai Florent

It doesn't have to be a bin, it can be anything.

Ollie Florent

It can be anything. You can hit the target, you can do whatever you want but it's really important to make sure we're getting in the backyard and having a bit of fun whilst in this tough time. And obviously it's really good for your mental health. We're really lucky, inside we've got a gym, so me and my little brother we'll do a bit of a workout and come out and do some of these exercises and then, you know, I play a bit of PlayStation, but yeah. As I said, it's important to get outside and do this stuff. All right, so now I will, I guess that's the end of it and I really appreciate you guys coming along and helping me and my brother he's done really well today. But make sure to give him a little like on Instagram or comment and just say, mate you gotta practice a bit more. So as a big brother, I've gotta teach him a lesson and I really appreciate you guys.
