Issue 1 - 'Thinking Ahead'
This inaugural issue explores why critical and creative thinking skills, combined with deep subject matter knowledge, will be so crucial for today’s children to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
The first issue includes a foreword from Leslie Loble, Deputy Secretary Strategic Priorities and features contributions from:
- Irish author, academic and education consultant Mary Roche, on how picture books can be taught to help our youngest learners become critical thinkers.
- Rooty Hill High School teacher Yasodai Selvakumaran – a Global Teacher Prize finalist in 2019 and a DoE Teacher Ambassador – reflecting on how she helps students to develop their critical and creative thinking skills through her lessons.
- Professor Ronald Beghetto from Arizona State University on the evidence for how creativity happens and when it should happen.
- Secretary Mark Scott on every students’ common entitlement to deep knowledge and crucial skills, and how this is key to achieving our vision to be one of the finest education systems in the world.
