NSW Centre for Effective Reading
The NSW Centre for Effective Reading (the Centre) is a joint NSW Department of Education and NSW Health initiative. The Centre, in line with the Response to Intervention (RTI) model, provides:
- web based information and resources on effective reading instruction
- multidisciplinary assessment and intensive, individualised support for students with complex reading difficulties in eligible rural and remote primary schools
- up to 12 months of support to the school and parents of referred students.
The Centre is a state wide service with sites at Dubbo, Manly, Wagga Wagga and Westmead. The Centre is staffed with specialist support teachers, speech pathologists, educational psychologists, as well as neuropsychologists and paediatricians accessed through the Child Development Unit at The Children's Hospital, Westmead.
