Local school

For general enquiries about disability support, parents and carers in the first instance should contact their child's school.

Parents or carers whose child is not yet enrolled in school should contact their local school or their local educational services team on 131 536.

Local educational services team

Local educational services teams support schools in areas such as equity, curriculum, leadership, learning and wellbeing, support for students with disability, Aboriginal education, sport, arts, senior pathways and P-2 initiatives.

Parents or carers whose child is not yet enrolled in school can contact their local educational services team for general enquiries.

Local teams can be contacted on 131 536 and calls can be made from anywhere in NSW.

Assisted School Travel Program

The Department of Education Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport for the student either fully or in part.

Interpreter services

Interpreting and translation services are available to assist communication between schools and parents or carers who do not speak or understand English well or for parents or carers who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment

National Relay Service

The National Relay Service is an Australia-wide phone service for people who are deaf or have a hearing or speech impairment.
