In this 10 week unit of work, students develop knowledge and skills in lighting design through integrated theoretical and practical learning experiences.

The unit focuses on identifying design assumptions, analysing product limitations and failures, and responding through disruptive innovation. Students investigate how lighting influences users, environments and behaviour, considering factors such as accessibility, wellbeing, safety and sustainability.

Students explore the role of emerging technologies, including smart sensors, adaptive lighting and Internet of Things (IoT) systems, in shaping contemporary and future lighting solutions.
