Toormina Public School gets creative

Located in the mid north coast of NSW near Coffs Harbour, Toormina Public School students and teachers wanted to let their new kindy students and families know how to safely travel to and from their new school.

Students, teachers and community members came together to design, develop and publish a 3:22 minute video clip to share safe travel messages. This video is shared with their school community reinforcing the key road safety messages, encouraging everyone to think about how they can safely travel to and from school.

A Filmpond editor put the still photos and video clips together, responded to the school?s suggestions, added captions and tags, made it fully accessible and then published it.

The community is thrilled to have such a vibrant resource to share on the school website and social media channels. Teachers also plan to use it as a resource during PDHPE lessons. It?s a great way to generate positive discussion about how to be a safe road user as a bus and car passenger, pedestrian and cyclist.

Filmpond is approved resource for use by the department.
